Creating Opportunities Redefining Classical Landscapes Connecting Communities Empowering Youth Nurturing Tomorrow's Leaders
The Virtuoso Strings Charitable Trust aims to generate social benefit through an accessible, inclusive and holistic music education programme in a community-based setting.
Accessible: All aspects of all music programmes (eg. Instruments, tuition, uniform, trips, food, Exam fees) are provided freely to students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.
Inclusive: All youth residing in socio-economically disadvantaged communities can join the Virtuoso Strings music programmes. Our Virtuoso Strings Orchestra based in Cannons Creek is open to all young people from around the Wellington region.
Holistic: Our mantra is “If you care about the whole person, they will care a whole lot about learning.”
Community: If we work together on common goals we have more fun and everyone benefits.
The Virtuoso Vision
Our vision is for Porirua to be the home of a truly outstanding community orchestra within five years.
On a more personal level we seek to create a thriving and supportive environment which nurtures the talent of all young students, helping them develop strong peer and community connections and build an enduring sense of self-worth.
In the longer term we want every orchestra in the country to be a true reflection of the socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic diversity of New Zealand. We want every aspiring young musician, from every possible background, to dream big and have role models they can relate to.
We rely on support from people like you to do what we do! The givealittle page https://givealittle.co.nz/org/virtuosostrings is set up for one-off donations. However, if you’re looking to get more involved please don’t hesitate to email Liz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
